PDEA DESTROYS P1.77 BILLION WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed P1.77 billion worth of dangerous drugs today (Thursday), July 14, 2016, at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI), Barangay Aguado, Trece Martirez City, Cavite.
Destroyed through thermal decomposition were a total of 400,356.25 grams of assorted pieces of drug evidence composed of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, cocaine, ketamine, marijuana, ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and expired medicines; and liquid shabu weighing 66,250 ml.
Thermal decomposition is the process by which various compounds are broken down into single units by the application of heat wherein reconstruction of the substances is impossible.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will continue to be steadfast and firm in performing its duties as the country’s lead agency against illegal drugs.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. stressed this during the PDEA 14th Anniversary Celebration on June 10, 2016 at the PDEA Gym, PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.
“PDEA is a reliable leader of the force fighting illegal drugs in the country for the past fourteen years and will continue to do so in the years to come,” he said, referring to the anniversary theme, “PDEA, Maaasahan Noon, Ngayon at Magpakailanman”.

Seized controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs), together with laboratory equipment intended for the production of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, valued at P9,237,495.68 were destroyed today, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., PDEA Director General led the destruction ceremony of the chemicals and non-drug evidence turned over by authorities that were recently ordered by the court to be destroyed.
Cacdac said that a total of 5,042.82 liters of liquid chemicals (composed of ethanol, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide, xylene, acetone, sulfuric acid, toluene, acetic acid, acetonitrile, diethyl ether, ammonia, dichloromethane, acetic anhydride, mercuric chloride, tribond, acid waste and organic waste) and 3,926,500 grams of solid chemicals (composed of red phosphorus, iodine, activated charcoal and caustic soda) were destroyed through chemical treatment method.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Dangerous Drugs Board (DBB) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that sealed their partnership to ensure compliance for application of licenses and permits for controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) in the economic zones.
The signatories were PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G Cacdac, Jr., Undersecretary Jose Marlowe Pedregosa, Executive Director, DDB, and Director General Lilia De Lima of PEZA who inked the agreement in a ceremony held on May 3, 2016 at 10:00 am in PEZA Building 5, Government Office, Taguig, Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila.
