Two individuals who posed as PDEA agents and extorted money from an arrested drug suspect were arrested by a composite force from the PDEA Intelligence and Investigation Service, the Philippine Navy’s Naval Intelligence & Security Force (NISF) and the Anti-Organized Crime Unit of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (AOCU-CIDG).

Carla Saylon Alumno, 37, who also uses the aliases Janet Flores and Jermay Plarisan, and 27-year-old Jessica Daming Salapar were arrested by the composite team in Cavite. Both suspects claimed to be members of Rektang Puna News Media and are residents of Trece Martirez, Cavite; both were also caught in possession of fake PDEA identification cards.

Alumno, posing as a PDEA Intelligence Officer, extorted Php50,000.00 from the family of Marco Camatoy who was arrested by joint PDEA and police forces on November 3, 2021 for attempting to sell six kilograms of dried marijuana. Marco Camatoy’s family paid the sum via money transfer in exchange for Marco’s release but Alumno did not deliver on her promise. Rather, Alumno was asking for an additional Php8,000 for Marco’s swab test and Php3,000 on top of the new fees.

Alumno and Salapar will be charged with extortion along with other appropriate charges. Both suspects are currently detained in the AOCU-CIDG Custodial Facility in Camp Crame.
