Methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, worth ₱1,482,400,000 was seized by anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during separate buy-bust operations in Quezon City, Valenzuela City and Bulacan, all in one day.

PDEA Director General Wilkins M Villanueva said the illegal drugs were confiscated from suspects identified as Wille Lu Tan, alias Chen Bien, 42 years old; Antong Wong, with aliases Wang Zhong Chun and Wang Min, 28 years old; Chen Zhin, 79 years old; and Joseph Dy, 42 years old, all Chinese nationals.

On August 1, 2021 at around 11:30 in the morning, combined operatives of PDEA Intelligence and Investigation Service (IIS) under Director Adrian Alvariño, PDEA Special Enforcement Service (SES) under Director Rogelito Daculla, PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (RO-NCR) under Director Christian Frivaldo, in collaboration with elements of Task Force Noah, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG)-NCR and Quezon City Police District (QCPD), conducted a buy-bust operation in Magsaysay Street, Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City that led to the seizure of 127 kilograms of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱863,600,000 and the arrest of Tan, Wong and Zhin.

In the same time and day, the same operating untis, in support of Valenzuela City Police Station conducted another buy-bust operation in front of a bank along Paso de Blas, General Luis Street, Valenzuela City which resulted in the seizure of 16 kilograms of suspected shabu worth ₱108,800,000 and the arrest of Dy.

At about 5:40 in the afternoon the same day, another entrapment operation was conducted by the same operating units, in cooperation with Bulacan Police, in Barangay Santol, Balagtas, Bulacan resulting in the seizure of 75 pieces green tea bags containing 75 kilograms of suspected shabu worth ₱510,000,000, two mobile phones and one Colt cal. 45 pistolHowever, the suspect identified as Wu Zishen, 50 years old was killed after shooting it out with the operatives. Zishen’s cohort identified as alias Chen Hongli managed to elude arrest. He remains at large. Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed in court against the arrested suspects.

“All the hard work is paying off. Our operational thrust to prioritize the conduct of high-impact operations and arrests of high value targeted drug personalities, most especially foreigners, are yielding positive results,” the PDEA chief said.
