A suspected pusher of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, was killed after he tried to shoot it out with agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during an entrapment operation in Cebu on February 13, 2017.

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the fatality as Elmer Padin, a watch-listed drug personality in Cebu City.

At around 3:30 in the afternoon, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 7 (PDEA RO7) under the direct supervision of Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz conducted a buy-bust operation in Poblacion III, Carcar City, Cebu that led to a gunfight between the arresting officers and Padin after he tried to escape.

Padin suffered a gunshot wound and was immediately brought to Carcar Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of 12 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 200 grams, with an estimated street value of P600,000, and the 45 caliber pistol loaded with eight pieces of live ammunition and one KG9 sub-machine gun with 15 pieces of live ammunition that Padin used during the gun fight.
