A Nigerian national and his cohort were arrested by anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during the implementation of a search warrant in La Union. 

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the suspects as Daniel Ukah y Ifeanyi, 27 years old, a Nigerian national and resident of Pagdaraoan, City of San Fernando, La Union; and Jo Marlon Abad y Collado, 21, a painter, of San Juan, La Union.

On February 7, 2017 at around 6:15 in the morning, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) under Director Jeoffrey Tacio conducted the lawful search in Abad’s house in Barangay III Norte, San Juan that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Confiscated inside was one opened transparent plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, weighing approximately two grams worth P100.

Cases for violation of Section 11 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filling in court against Ukah and Abad who are presently detained in PDEA RO1 Jail Facility in Camp Diego Silang, Carlatan, City of San Fernando, La Union.
