Two employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were arrested in Davao City after selling methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, to a poseur-buyer on February 8, 2017.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the suspects as Rexford Irvin Pardillo, alias Rex, 29 years old; and Mark Ugmad, 33, both project-based employees of the DSWD Regional Office 11 in Davao City.

Before noon, Pardillo and Ugmad agreed to meet with the poseur-buyer along Pagatpat Street, Phase 2, SIR, Davao City to facilitate the sale of one plastic sachet of shabu.  

Upon the pre-arranged signal, combined operatives of PDEA Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11) under Director Adzhar Albani and 305th Air Intelligence and Securtity Squadron, Philippine Air Force arrested Pardillo and Ugmad after they handed over the illegal drug in exchange for the buy-bust money.

When frisked, the suspects yielded an additional four sachets containing shabu residue and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, are being prepared for filing in court against Pardillo and Ugmad.
