Methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with an estimated market value of P6,315,000, were seized by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a buy-bust operation in Cebu.

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said that the illegal drug, weighing a total of one kilogram, was seized from suspects identified as Luz Dayon Canlobo, 40 years old; Rey Nobal Suson, 47; Pepito Agustin Joson, 50; and a 17-year-old minor. All are residents of Talisay City, Cebu.

Before midnight of February 3, 2017, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 7 (PDEA RO7) under Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz arrested Canlobo and company after they sold a plastic pack of suspected shabu, weighing more or less 50 grams worth P315,000 to a poseur-buyer in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu.

When frisked, the suspects also yielded 11 more sachets of shabu, weighing approximately 950 grams, with an estimated street value of P6 million, 42 pieces of empty plastic sachet, two disposable lighters, and three pieces of folded aluminum foil.

However, the subject of the operation identified as Christopher Bernal Canlobo, alias Etcho, 28, managed to evade arrest after sensing the presence of incoming operatives.

Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed in court against the arrested suspects. The minor will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provincial office.
