Some 602 personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were subjected to a surprise drug test on August 22, 2016 at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.
PDEA Director General Isidro S, Lapeña led the submission of urine samples that were taken from PDEA key officials, administrative/technical personnel and Drug Enforcement Officers (DEOs), who underwent the drug tests after a long weekend break. The drug tests were administered by the PDEA Laboratory Service under Director Belen Banog after the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony.
The drug test all yielded negative results for the presence of illegal drugs.
“This is just part of the standard procedure to set a good example in cleansing our ranks. We want to show that we have the moral ascendancy to lead as prime implementers of the anti-drug law and that we are drug-free,” Lapeña said.
