5.PR3282016 27July2016A former mayor in Lanao del Sur and her husband, who is an army major, together with eight others, were arrested by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police during two authorized searches in Cagayan de Oro City on July 23, 2016. PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the suspects as Johaira Macabuat y Bagumbang, alias Mayora Marimar, 44 years old, a former mayor of Maguing, Lanao del Sur and a target-listed drug personality; and her husband Major Suharto Macabuat y Tambidan, 40, who is assigned at the Philippine Army Headquarters Support Group, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. Both are residents of Zone 1, Grand Ballon, Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City. At about 9:50 in the morning, the couple was arrested by joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 10 (PDEA RO10) under Director Adrian Alvariño, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Intelligence Operations, COCPO Police Station 3 and COCPO Police Station 4, during an implementation of a search warrant in their house in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City. Also taken into custody were Kate Abinal, 22; Noraisa Sarip, 34; Mark Gerald Sindac, 33; Moamar Taher, 28; Mariano Dagandar Jr., 54; Manot Dutoan, 20; and Hezam Tambidan, 21, who were present inside the house when operatives conducted the search. Republic of the Philippines Office of the President PHILIPPINE DRUG ENFORCEMENT AGENCY NIA Northside Road, National Government Center Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City Confiscated inside were eight transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing more or less 100 grams, with an estimated street value of P200,000, one weighing scale, two cal. 45 revolvers loaded with pieces of live ammunition, and one Glock cal. 9mm loaded with pieces of ammunition. Johaira Macabuat is tagged as the “Drug Queen of the South”, and allegedly the leader of a drug group which supplies illegal drugs in Regions 10, 11, 12, CARAGA Region, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and in Metro Manila. The Macabuats will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the provincial prosecutor. On the same day, another suspect identified as Sanny Santican, 33, was also arrested in a separate raid in Zone 1, Grand Ballon, Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City, at around 9:15 in the morning. Seized from Santican’s house were 20 transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 100 grams worth P200,000. A case for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165, awaits Santican
