PDEA REWARDS P2,929,086.32 TO 10 CIVILIAN INFORMANTS
Ten civilian informants received a total of P2,929,086.32 in cash rewards from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during its regular Monday flag-raising ceremony on April 25, 2016 at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. commended the informants identified through their codenames: Cold Ice, Tophe, Toro, Sniper, Enso, Labang, Mar, Carbon, JM and Tamiya, for providing anti-drug information that led to the seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of drug personalities under the PDEA Operation: Private Eye.
The Operation Private Eye Rewards Committee, composed of members from the academe, non-government organizations, law enforcement, religious and business sectors, approved a resolution granting a total of P2,929,086.32 monetary rewards to the 10 informants after careful deliberation.
Among the informants, “Cold Ice” received the biggest reward of P728,573.58. His information resulted in the confiscation of 27,941.76 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and the arrest of two drug personalities during an entrapment operation in front of a supermarket along Aurora Boulevard corner Araneta Avenue, Barangay Doña Imelda, Quezon City on January 13, 2016.
P500,000 was awarded to “Tophe” who provided information resulting in the seizure of 162,895 grams of fully-grown marijuana plants, 200 marijuana seedlings, 730,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and 170 grams of marijuana seeds and the arrest of one drug suspect during simultaneous marijuana eradication operations in 32 marijuana plantation sites in Barangay Licungan and Barangay Caoayan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur on February 12 to 16, 2016.
“Toro” was rewarded with P406,549.04 after he supplied information that led to the seizure of 9,910.33 grams of shabu and the arrest of five drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in the parking area of T&K Building, Congressional Avenue, Barangay Magsaysay, Quezon City on October 15, 2015.
“Sniper” received P380,221.16 by providing information that resulted in the arrest of one drug personality and the confiscation of 9,160.90 grams of shabu during an entrapment operation in an open parking area of a mall along FTI Avenue, Taguig City on December 12, 2015.
A cash reward of P343,881.15 was also given to “Sniper” after supplying information resulting in the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of 9,269.60 grams of shabu during a buy-bust operation along Diokno Boulevard corner Coral Way, Mall of Asia, Pasay City on December 12, 2015.
“Enso” received P306,000 cash award after providing information that led to the seizure of 45,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants and 30,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves, as well as the arrest of one drug personality in Barangay Banga, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur on February 20, 2016.
A reward of P126,751.68 was given to “Labang” who provided information resulting in the seizure of 105,656.4 grams of marijuana and the arrest of one suspect during a vehicle interdiction operation in Barangay Corro-oy, Santol, La Union on February 9, 2016.
“Mar” received P44,008.46 cash award after supplying information that led to the seizure of 1,844.495 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality following an implementation of a search warrant in Rolling Meadows Subdivision, San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City on September 18, 2015.
P41,059.27 was awarded to “Carbon” whose anti-drug information led to the seizure of 492.7718 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during an airport interdiction operation in NAIA Terminal 3 on December 9, 2015.
“JM” was rewarded with P27,115.30 after he supplied information that led to the seizure of 27,115.30 grams of marijuana and the arrest of two drug personalities during a vehicle interdiction operation in Bimmotobot, Naguilan, La Union on December 11, 2015.
“Tamiya” was given P24,926.68 for providing information resulting in the confiscation of 306.5665 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Yacapin-Burgos Street, Cagayan de Oro City on August 13, 2015.
The Operation ‘Private Eye’ is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities.
