JOINT PDEA/DOH-FDA ADVISORY PROHIBITING THE USE OF HEMPSEED OIL OR THEIR VARIETIES AND DERIVATIVES FROM CANNABIS OR MARIJUANA IN CONSUMER PRODUCTS AND ITS AUTOMATIC SURRENDER TO PDEA OR FDA

For the protection of the consuming public against hazards to their health and to safeguard them from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hereby adopt and issue this joint advisory to warn the public consumer not to buy or use hempseed oil or their varieties and derivatives from Cannabis or commonly known as “Marijuana” or “Indian Hemp” from the specie of the plant Cannabis Sativa L, including but not limited to, Cannabis Americana, hashish, bhang, guaza, churrus and ganjab or by its any other name and to report and surrender these prohibited products immediately to FDA or PDEA.

 Moreover, all manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, importers, dealers and retailers of the consumer products are hereby ordered:

  1. To declare the sources of hempseed oil products, or their varieties and derivatives in their labels or in writing to FDA or PDEA for verification and investigation;
  2. To stop the importation, sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution, and transportation of hempseed oil or its varieties and derivatives from cannabis or marijuana; and
  3. To surrender immediately the hempseed oil products or their varieties and derivatives from cannabis or marijuana to the nearest FDA or PDEA Offices without prejudice to the filing of any administrative/criminal sanctions under RA 9165 and RA 7394.

Likewise, all local authorities are also enjoined to monitor and report the proliferation of hempseed oil products or their varieties and derivatives from cannabis or marijuana to the nearest FDA or PDEA Offices thru our website @ www.pdea.gov.ph with telephone nos. (02) 927-9702 / (02) 928-0090 and/or email report @ fda.gov.ph.
