APICC’S SECRETARY GENERAL VISITS THE PHILIPPINES, STRENGTHENS ANTI-DRUG CAPABILITIES OF PDEA REGIONAL OFFICES

PR322The Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Information and Coordination Center for Combating Drug Crimes (APICC) and Director of the Narcotics Division of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office - Republic of Korea (SPO-ROK) recently visited the Philippines to strengthen the national campaign against illegal drugs in the regions as part of the implementation of “2014 Anti-Drug Capability Build-Up Support Program in the Philippines”.

During his visit, Mr. Kim HooKyoonand his delegation conducted a two-day Intelligence and Investigation Training/Workshop to 30 drug enforcement officers of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Offices 5, 6, 7 and 8 on July 2-3, 2014 at Hotel del Rio, Iloilo Cityand donated pieces of equipment and vehicles to boost PDEA’s operational capability in the Bicol and Visayas Region.The donated items include water pumps, generators, digital cameras, two-way radios, an air conditioner, motorcycles, one Hyundai van and office equipment.

“PDEA greatly appreciates the support given by APICC through the SPO-ROK, represented by Secretary General Kim HooKyon to our Regional Offices in Bicol and Visayas Region. We strongly believe that part of the vision of building a drug-free region would require strong international cooperation with our neighbors in the Asia-Pacific,” Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., the PDEA Director General said.
