An incumbent barangay kagawad and his cohort were arrested by combined operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police during an authorized search in Iriga City on March 11, 2017.
PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the suspects as Alan Alanis y Nacario, 47 years old, a barangay kagawad and resident of Barangay San Nicolas, Iriga City, Camarines Sur; and Aldrin Cadag y Marmol, 46, also a resident of Barangay San Nicolas At around 6:00 in the afternoon, joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 5 (PDEA RO5) under Director Emerson Margate, Iriga City Police Station, Baao Municipal Police Station, Buhi Municipal Police Station, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit/Regional Intelligence Division and Camarines Sur Provincial Police Office arrested Alanis and Cadag following the implementation of a search warrant in their house in Barangay San Nicolas.
Seized inside were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, weighing more or less 100.859 grams, with an estimated street value of P504,295, assorted drug paraphernalia and one long metal magazine for suspected caliber 45 loaded with nine pieces of live ammunition.
Alanis and Cadag will be facing charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. An additional case for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition) will also be filed against them.
